Environment awareness & conservation through implementing Green Concepts |
Praj Foundation is jointly implementing a project of Environment Awareness & Conservation with M.E.S.'s Rani Laxmibai Mulinchi Sainiki Shala, Kasar Amboli, Mulshi Taluka. Being a residential school there are 400 students and 50 staff members residing on the campus. With a view to manage the biodegradable waste generated from the hostel mess and staff quarters, a composting unit has been set up. The students are trained in segregating waste at source and also operate the composting unit.
The compost thus obtained will be used by students for growing seasonal organic vegetables and medicinal plants in the school premises.
With a view to impart knowledge about important medicinal plants all the relevant information about these 25 commonly used species of medicinal plants will be collected by the students and displayed near each plant. Demonstrations will be organised under the guidance of experts for preparing ayurvedic formulation using some of these medicinal plants for curing common ailments such as cough, cold, etc.
A Green scholarship has been instituted to recognize efforts of environment friendly student. The student will be selected based on their level of participation in Environment awareness programmes and Eco friendly activities undertaken by school.
